What made you apply to, or join, Nordic Waterproofing?
Initially I was working in ‘Phønix Vej’, and started working for Nordic Waterproofing as a hired-in-help. Eventually I became a part of the permanent team of blacksmiths here.

Which are the three most important factors to get a high level of commitment and job satisfaction at the workplace?
It is important, that you are included in decisions and are given the chance to get involved in decisions related to ones own workarea. Another important factor is having great colleagues.

What skills/knowledge are good to have in your position?
You must have experience as a blacksmith, and possess good general skills as a repairman. The tasks can vary from plumbing to masonry and everything in between, and it is the great variation that makes the job so great.

What advice can you share to anyone who is about to apply for a position at Nordic Waterproofing?
If you like working independently and having great colleagues, we are the right place for you!

What made you apply to, or join, Nordic Waterproofing?
More or less through coincidence, I started as an intern in the company back in 2000, which enabled me to finish education as a lab technician. Then I left the company for a few years, only to return when the company contacted me again in 2004 and offered me my current position. I never doubted that this decision would be right for me and was pleased to take the job.

Which are the three most important factors to get a high level of commitment and job satisfaction at the workplace?
I believe that having a lot of interesting and challenging tasks and the opportunity to influence decisions is highly important. Having great colleagues that take responsibility for getting things done is also a key factor. Finally, I believe that a work environment where you can be yourself and are respected whoever you are is key for creating a high level of individual commitment.

What skills/knowledge are good to have in your position?
A good understanding of technical issues, a strong overview and the ability to balance multiple tasks at the same time. Also, it does not hurt to be detail oriented, and possess a good skillset for management and collaboration.

What advice can you share to anyone who is about to apply for a position at Nordic Waterproofing?
Do not hesitate to come and join us – but please do not apply for my job because I never want to leave this place! Joking aside, it is good to know that when working at Nordic Waterproofing we as your colleagues expect you to live our values, which means that you must be willing to take responsibility, talk openly about problems and concerns, act bravely with fearing to fail, and always put the concern for the customer in the center of your decisions.

What made you apply to, or join, Nordic Waterproofing?
Attractive work and versatile work assignments where I can take advantage of my skills. An opportunity to get to know the new field I did not work before and learn new things. In addition, the company is a major player in the field and its values are in place.

Which are the three most important factors to get a high level of commitment and job satisfaction at the workplace?
Appreciating employees, listening to employees’ opinions, appreciating their work input, giving positive feedback on well-done jobs and paying the right salary.
Taking care of employees, that is, good and safe working conditions and employee’s leisure valuation so that they can also recover. Workloads that are challenging enough and fit the employee’s skills.
Transparency in decision-making and information flow for business matters, including employees.

What skills/knowledge are good to have in your position?
Knowledge of HR issues, knowledge in the construction / waterproofing industry, knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement, IT skills at the required level since all work is done on a computer network. I have many different work assignments and different schedules so I need to be able to organize and plan the schedules. I handle my work assignments mainly alone so I need to be able to work independently. I am also dealing with different people from all over Finland so good social skills are necessary.

What advice can you share to anyone who is about to apply for a position at Nordic Waterproofing?
It’s definitely worth applying for a job with us, nice colleagues and interesting jobs awaiting.
